![]() population growth and people moving around and the fact that very few Americans anymore have any connection to the land, especially (of course) those living in metro areas, are the reasons why this continues to happen. This is an issue in most American metros that used to be "Western". To be on topic, I do think Phoenix is less and less a Western town, obviously. All the legends are passing and we'll never see another Johnny or Merle or George walk through that door. The must-try starters and stars of the show are the penny refills on their popular. You have to search and dig on the internet or in small venues a lot of the time to find authentic music and who has time to do that? Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in LoDo offers an impressive brunch experience on the weekends that is unmatched. I don't know 100% why it is but everything is so fragmented by the internet nowadays that the stuff that makes it to the radio in most genres usually isn't that compelling. And the real money seems to be in festivals and so forth that are all just an assemblage of whatever's catchy at that exact moment, 90% of which will be forgotten in a year or two. The stuff on the commercial radio stations is mostly just the middle-of-the-road, lowest-common-denominator type of music. There's still a few good acts out there but in terms of the popular/radio stuff, it's no wonder the radio stations struggle. 1082 reviews of Dierks Bentleys Whiskey Row 'Super chill atmosphere. It has to appeal to urban residents to become successful if it was the real thing it would be out of business.ĭo you see this as a problem with the Phoenix area or with the continuing decline in the quality of popular music, including popular country music, in the internet age? COVID update: Dierks Bentleys Whiskey Row has updated their hours, takeout & delivery options. ![]() Even Dierks bar is not really a pure country bar. Scottsdale used to be a horse and western themed city and that has slowly eroded and is now another metrosexual party electronic music city. Rock n Rodeo/Graham Central Station closed over a decade ago. Rawhide used to be a big deal when it was in Scottsdale and then was relocated to Chandler and isn't the same. Country music stations have been shut down. If anything, our country music scene is dying. Sure, there is enough country music to keep you entertained but it's hardly "big" or "huge" Likewise, people who haven't spent any real time in the South have no clue when they claim our country scene is huge. People who have not lived in other cities think the traffic here is bad. Large country music scenes are in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, Charlotte etc. I hope. There is not a large country music scene here. I just hope Deirks Bentley can watch his managers and staff a little closer because I think this kind of service would piss him off. So, Deirk's only succeeded in ensuring we don't come back and that all five of us would write a bad review. But they couldn't get us out of there fast enough. Furthermore, I think it's reasonable that if you (Deirks staff) acknowledge you made a mistake (by not telling us the table was reserved) then you would try to make it good. Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row - Scottsdale: Could have been 5 stars - See 149 traveler reviews, 46 candid photos, and great deals for Scottsdale, AZ, at Tripadvisor. Anyway, there was a real disconnect between this sudden surprise and great customer service. He apologized and said as soon as you pay we have other people that will sit here. I told him we just found out that we were being kicked out of the bar 15 minutes ago. To add insult to injury, we were waiting for our waitress to come back with change when a bouncer/security guy came up to tell us we had to leave. Actually the other option was to move to the bar which was now very crowded (the reason we were glad to have the booth) and they took the bar stools out. I could understand if one person misunderstood this little tidbit but there were 5 of us and all of us were shocked to hear we had to leave. But we said no one told us about a reservation and that we'd been expecting to hear the band and see Deirks. She said that the hostess seating us should of told us. I told the waitress we were unaware of that, that we were expecting to hear the band. We were told that our booth was previously reserved. We anticipated seeing the band at 10 but 15 minutes prior. If we were smart we would've left at that point. Took waitress more than 20 minutes to get us our drinks and 40 minutes after that (1 hr total) to take our food order. Seated in a great booth early in the evening. Saturday night with hopes of seeing Deirks after his local concert.
